Light control by light: self-organization of spatio-temporal dissipative solitons in light bullets and vortices

- by Vladimir Škarka from the University of Angers, FR

Laser beams or pulses, propagating through non-linear materials, induce non-linear refractive index which influences self-focusing. In particular materials, light is modified by itself. Solitons are self-organized multi-dimenzional structures. Optical solitons completely confined in space and time are called light bullets. Solitons with topological singularities are called vortex solitons. Their stability during propagation through semiconductors based on polymers, has been investigated.
